Engaging employees

This article covers success stories of employee engagement and what it take for an an employer to motivate employees so that the employees would voluntarily invest extra effor on the job.

I can relate to this story because even though the work hours are pretty strict in my department, my manager has made my hours flexible and as result I have spent many hours of my weekends at work trying to get things with important deadlines done.

What this article is suggesting is that employers need to treat their employees like they are human beings with lives and obligations  outside of the work place and not like machines that their only function is work.  When an employee is rid of the personal problems outside of work, he or she is more willing to go the extra mile to help the company achieve its goal.
